would be called to the inquiry.
“This is for us to gather information on the st=
atus
of salaries and allowances that have or have not been paid to the former or
current government.
“We will ask for an explanation from all parties
before we decide on our next course of action,” he told a press
conference at the state secretariat on Saturday.
On the appointments of the three advisers and informa=
tion
chief, Wong said the PAC wanted to know the legality and benefits of the
appointments, its rationale and purpose, and remunerations to be paid.
He said the PAC had the right to make recommendations=
to
the relevant government departments on the disbursement of public funds suc=
h as
salaries and allowances.
On those who refuse to attend the inquiry, he said:
“We have the right to issue a warrant of arrest to the person.”=
Wong said the inquiry would convene regardless of the
outcome of Tuesday’s emergency sitting of the State Assembly.
He said the aim of the inquiry was not to determine
whether Barisan Nasional or
Pakatan Rakyat was the rightful government.
“As a committee formed under Standing Order 70,=
we
have the responsibility to ensure that all monies allocated and paid during
this crisis to whichever parties is fair and in accordance with laws and
procedures.”
The committee was formed last June during the Pakatan Rakyat administration and comprised five memb=
ers
from Pakatan and two from =
Barisan.
Ironically, Dr Zambry is =
the
PAC deputy chairman while one of his new excos,=
Datuk Ramly Zahari,
is a committee member.
