Perak PAS lodges police report over poison pen
letters
IPOH: Perak PAS has lodged a report at the district police
headquarters here over poison pen letters being circulated by unknown groups
claiming that the party would turn Perak into an Islamic state.
State PAS information chief Misbahul Munir said the party lodged the rep=
ort
last Sunday after coming to know about the letters.
"These letters are not from Perak PAS,” Misbahul said. =
"People have reported to us that the letters are being passed aroun=
d in
public places. They are being circulated by hand all over the state, mostly=
in
Ipoh,” he added.
Among the allegations in the letters, bearing the PAS logo and name, were
that the party would first close down all entertainment and gaming outlets
throughout Perak.
Perak PAS, it claimed, would also ban the sale of alcohol at all business
premises and implement Hudud law when the political situation was stable.&n=
bsp;
The letters sarcastically mentioned that although PAS had only won six s=
eats
in the state it could still accomplish its agenda through the executive pow=
ers
of the mentri besar.
State PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was sworn-in as the 10th P=
erak
Mentri Besar on Monday. The letters also "warned" that those who =
went
against the PAS state government would be considered “infidels”.
“Those who receive such letters should report the matter to the
police,” said Misbahul.
